Direct Dermatology Care

Flourish Dermatology is a Direct Dermatology practice that doesn't receive reimbursement through the traditional insurance model. This removes restrictions implemented by government and private insurance into the patient care equation, allowing us to spend more time where it matters most, which is in treating your skin and hair concerns!

What is Direct Dermatology Care?

Direct Dermatology Care is an alternative approach to the traditional healthcare model that eliminates the often restrictive rules and regulations of insurance networks. By eliminating insurance companies from the patient-doctor equation, patients are allowed to sit in the driver's seat of their medical care, where they belong. This allows for a mutual partnership between the patient and physician that provides the most effective dermatologic outcomes.

Due to this direct to patient approach, no insurance is accepted at Flourish Dermatology. Prices for all visits and services are 100% transparent and provided upon request before any service is rendered. All services must be paid in full at the time of service. We are out of network for all insurances and non-participating in medicare, but you may submit your superbill directly to your insurance after your visit, and you may be reimbursed a portion of the cost

  • An individualized, welcomed care experience with the dermatologis
  • Easier access to appointments via short wait times, flexible scheduling, and virtual visit access
  • Extended, unrushed office visits
  • The list goes on!

Flourish Dermatology and Aesthetics focuses on inclusive, educational, and effective skincare for all of our patients. In order to accomplish these goals, we take pride in spending time and tailoring our approach in treatment (with the assistance of the patient) to achieve the best outcomes. We pride ourselves in providing a variety of options as well as being 100% transparent in pricing and fees, so that patients feel comfortable as they decide what services fit best with their skincare and hair goals. A few things to think about when choosing between traditional insurance based dermatologic care vs direct dermatology care:

  • In the traditional insurance-based reimbursement system, trying to figure out how much a visit and/or procedure will cost at the time of service is often impossible. This is because insurances don’t determine how much or what they will cover for a patient visit until after a patient is seen. This process to determine the final price paid by insurance for a visit can take several weeks to months because claims are filed and denied, deductibles have to be met in order for insurance to cover additional costs, etc. Patients will often receive additional bills (in addition to their initial visit co-pay and prescription charges) months after their original visit.
  • At Flourish Dermatology and Aesthetics, all costs are transparent and available upon request prior to any visit or service.
  • Direct Dermatology care is often a good addition to patients with high deductible plans due to additional fees that are often added on the traditional insurance model bill (ie facility fees, etc).
  • Flexible spending and health spending account payments are accepted for medical (not cosmetic) services at Flourish Dermatology.
  • Pathology specimen and blood work is not performed in-house, however, patients can use their insurance (with the exception of Medicare HMOs) to pay for any necessary labs or pathology ordered during your visit.
  • We also offer direct dispensing and access to a compounded medication formulary, which often adds additional cost-saving options, thereby providing the most cost economical pricing and convenient access to prescription medications.
  • For those with private insurance, upon request, we will provide you with an itemized and coded form and the appropriate out-of-network healthcare reimbursement form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.*
