Laser Skin Tightening

Laser heat stimulates collagen to improve mild skin laxity and texture. Commonly used on the face, neck, and body.

What is Laser Skin Tightening

# As we age, our skin gradually produces less collagen and elastin, which can contribute to fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, uneven texture, and a loss of firmness. Sun exposure and other environmental factors can further accelerate these changes.
# At Flourish Dermatology & Aesthetics in New Orleans, LA, Dr. Lauren C. Payne offers several advanced options for skin rejuvenation and collagen remodeling, including Aerolase® NeoDerm, LaseMD Ultra™, and Lutronic Genius® RF Microneedling.
# Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, treatments are selected based on your primary concerns, skin type, desired results, and tolerance for downtime. Whether your goal is gentle rejuvenation, brighter and smoother skin, or more intensive tightening and collagen remodeling, your treatment plan can be customized for you.

Which Treatment Is Right for Me?

Although all three treatments can stimulate collagen and improve overall skin quality, each has a different strength:
Aerolase NeoDerm → Gentle rejuvenation + minimal downtime LaseMD Ultra → Pigmentation + brightening + resurfacing Genius RF Microneedling → Tightening + texture + deeper collagen remodeling
Some patients may benefit from combining or alternating treatments as part of a comprehensive rejuvenation plan. During your consultation, we will determine which option—or combination of options—is best suited to your skin and goals.

What to Expect

Treatment experience and recovery vary depending on the technology selected.
Aerolase NeoDerm: Treatments are generally comfortable and require little to no downtime. You may experience temporary warmth or mild redness.
LaseMD Ultra: You may experience warmth during treatment followed by redness, dryness, a rough or “sandpaper-like” texture, or mild flaking as the skin renews. Downtime depends on treatment intensity.
Genius RF Microneedling: Topical numbing is typically used before treatment. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, pinpoint marks, or a rough texture may occur afterward. Recovery varies depending on treatment depth and intensity.
Your provider will give you specific pre- and post-treatment instructions based on the procedure performed.

How do we treat Laser Skin Tightening

Your provider will evaluate your skin and recommend the technology that best matches your concerns and goals.

Aerolase® NeoDerm — Gentle Rejuvenation + No Downtime

Aerolase NeoDerm uses 1064 nm Nd laser energy to gently heat the deeper layers of the skin and stimulate collagen while also addressing several common complexion concerns.

NeoDerm is an excellent option for patients who want gentle skin rejuvenation with little to no downtime. In addition to supporting collagen production, Aerolase can help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, redness, acne, unwanted pigmentation, and overall skin clarity.

Treatments are quick, comfortable, and appropriate for a wide range of skin tones, including melanin-rich skin.

Best for: Gentle rejuvenation, mild laxity, acne, redness, uneven tone, pigmentation, and patients who want minimal downtime.

LaseMD Ultra™ — Brightening + Texture + Collagen Renewal

LaseMD Ultra uses a 1927 nm thulium laser to create precise microscopic treatment zones within the skin. This stimulates renewal while encouraging collagen remodeling and improving the appearance of the skin’s surface.

LaseMD is especially helpful for patients concerned about hyperpigmentation, sun damage, uneven skin tone, fine lines, rough texture, and overall skin quality.

Treatment intensity can be customized, allowing LaseMD to provide anything from a lighter refresh to a more intensive resurfacing treatment. At Flourish, LaseMD can also be paired with selected topical treatments when appropriate to further target concerns such as discoloration.

Best for: Hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, sun damage, fine lines, rough texture, and patients wanting more noticeable resurfacing than a gentle laser facial.

Lutronic Genius® RF Microneedling — Firming + Tightening + Deeper Collagen Remodeling

Genius RF Microneedling combines traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the skin’s surface. The microneedles create controlled micro-injuries while RF energy heats targeted layers of tissue, stimulating a more intensive collagen and elastin remodeling response.

Genius is generally the most appropriate of these three treatments when the primary goal is skin tightening, improved firmness, deeper collagen remodeling, or treatment of acne scars and more significant textural irregularities.

Because the treatment works beneath the surface of the skin, it can improve skin structure and firmness gradually without surgery.

Best for: Skin laxity, tightening, acne scars, deeper wrinkles, enlarged pores, textural irregularities, and patients seeking more intensive collagen remodeling.

After Treatment

Depending on the technology selected, treatment may help:

* # Stimulate new collagen and elastin

* # Improve skin firmness and elasticity

* # Soften fine lines and wrinkles

* # Improve uneven skin texture

* # Reduce the appearance of enlarged pores

* # Improve acne scars

* # Brighten dull or sun-damaged skin

* # Improve uneven pigmentation and skin tone

* # Create smoother, healthier-looking skin

* # Provide nonsurgical skin rejuvenation with less downtime than more aggressive procedures

Because collagen remodeling occurs gradually, improvements can continue to develop for several weeks to months after treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

If firming and tightening are your primary goals, Genius RF Microneedling generally provides the most intensive collagen-remodeling treatment of these options. Aerolase may be appropriate for milder concerns, while LaseMD is particularly helpful when skin tone, pigmentation, and surface texture are also priorities.

LaseMD Ultra is particularly well suited for hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, sun damage, and overall brightening. Aerolase can also address unwanted pigmentation while providing gentle rejuvenation. The best option depends on your skin type and the type of pigmentation being treated.

Some improvements in brightness and skin quality may be noticed relatively quickly, particularly with resurfacing treatments. Collagen remodeling takes longer, with improvements in firmness, texture, and wrinkles developing gradually over several weeks to months.

Most patients benefit from a series of treatments rather than a single session. The exact number depends on the technology used, treatment intensity, and your concerns. Your provider will develop an individualized treatment plan during your consultation.

Comfort varies by procedure. Aerolase is generally very well tolerated and may feel warm. LaseMD can produce warmth or a prickling sensation. Genius RF Microneedling is a more intensive treatment, so topical numbing is typically used beforehand to improve comfort.

Aerolase generally has little to no downtime. LaseMD may cause several days of redness, dryness, or a rough texture depending on treatment intensity. Genius RF Microneedling can cause temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, and pinpoint treatment marks for several days.

These technologies can be used in patients with melanin-rich skin when appropriate treatment parameters and precautions are selected. Your skin type, pigmentation concerns, and risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation will be considered when determining which treatment is best for you.

No. Nonsurgical treatments can improve mild to moderate laxity, skin quality, texture, and firmness, but they cannot remove significant excess skin or reproduce the degree of lifting achieved with surgery.

Yes. Because Aerolase, LaseMD, and Genius RF Microneedling work differently, they may be used at different points in a comprehensive treatment plan. Combining or alternating treatments can allow us to address pigmentation, texture, firmness, acne scars, and other concerns rather than relying on one technology to accomplish everything.
